YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Welcome to the Post 10167 Youth Activities

This Post works alongside America's youth to instill a sense of Patriotism.  We promote civic responsibility and support youth and local programs in our community.

Post 10167 honors children who demonstrate exceptional leadership in school, scouting and their community.  This Post is active with the JROTC at Anclote High School and sponsors the vegetable garden/nutritional program at Gulfside Elementary School and Northwest Elementary School. We support these programs with scholarships and honorariums to deserving students and teachers.   We also are proud to support may events at the Holiday Recreation Center.  We also have many outreach programs for Flag etiquette and education as well as child safety activities.

VFW Post 10167 participates in many Community Service activities that result in positive life changing impacts for everyone in our community.

This is a picture of the sampling I do at every last nutrition class with 3rd graders before the semester's final harvest.  They learn about (Entomophagy) the beneficial health and environmental aspects of eating insects.  I also talk about the soldiers' experiences with food and what I learned in my Jungle Survival Course.  This is a school lunch plate that will likely be served to these 3rd graders children in 25 years - Roasted Cricket Pizza, String Beans Milk, Mealworm cookies and fruit.

Congratulations to our 2021 VOD (Voice Of Democracy) 1st Place winner and $300 prize, Cadet Katharine Baclawski, Junior Year, Anclote H. S.

Gulfside Elementary School

Our very own Vince Blancato is actively cultivating our youth mentorship and education programs. One of these programs with Gulfside Elementary has established a number of gardens as well as harvest events to help educate our youth how to be self-sufficient, and in most cases with only donations of excess materials, resources, and time from volunteers.

Part of the activities include harvesting the crops, as well as washing and sampling the vegies.
